BLOODHOUND MISSILE BASES
Australian deployments started with No.30 Squadron at RAAF Base Williamtown in January 1961.
The Bloodhound was used to protect key national assets, such as the V- bomber bases.
Guidance was provided by ground-based radar situated with the missile launchers.
No 85 Squadron had the fixed-base Marconi Type 87 Scorpion and No 25 used air-portable Type.
